Wheelhouse

Petrel's large wrap-around windows offer 270-degree visibility, with outward opening doors to port and starboard of the helm. A nicely updated electronics suite, includes:

Built in seating, storage drawers, fold-down navigation table, vintage compass, spotlight, LED lighting, and a Double Radex heater are all well-positioned. Aft, to port is the main settee with new cushions, bookshelf, cabinet, and fold-down expandable dinette. To starboard is another settee that folds away when not in use.

Foc'sle

The foc'sle has plenty of storage and is a warm and cozy space heated by a Single Radex and a Dickinson Newport diesel heater.  Lit up by a deck-prism, there are also five LED fixtures and an old-school skylight. With two bunks in the foc'sle, another bunk plus fold-down child's berth in the wheelhouse - as well as plenty of room on the roof to sleep under the stars - Petrel can accomodate the whole family.

Galley & Head

The galley shines in varnished mahogany.  One deck-prism, three windows and three LED fixtures keep it bright. To port is the sink with 160USG pressurized hot water from stainless tanks. To starboard is a fridge/freezer and a Sigmar 200-series range. A Dickinson Sea-B-Q mounts onto the stern railing for those summer evening BBQs

Private head features a window, venting skylight, LED fixture, small sink, shower area and Wilcox-Crittendon Skipper II Head with 18USG tank.

Mechanical & Electrical

The engine room is clean and bright, utilizing both 120V and 12V light fixtures. A fully stocked tool cabinet and loads of spares provide peace of mind.  The rebuilt Detroit Diesel 371 has 1600hrs and turns a Twin Disc MG-506 transmission via dripless seala to a 34 x 26 propellor.

Petrel's electrical layout is modern and tidy. 120V outlets are powered by the Northern Lights Lugger 5.5KW Genset and a 30A shore hookup. The 12V system consists of 3 House Batts, 3 Start Batts, 1 Electronics Batt, and 1 GenSet Start Batt.  A Mastervolt Chargemaster smart charger ensures everything is ready to go at any time.

Topsides

Everything above deck is heavy-duty and solid as a tugboat.  Recently installed 2200lb Smith Brothers hydraulic winch with 75lb CQR on 110ft of 5/8" chain and another 200ft of 3/4" braided rode. There's also a spare 60lb anchor with ample chain and rode stored in lazarette. A stainless spool with 600ft of poly rope provides stern-tie options. The fully functional stabilizer poles extend out 40-degrees, towing para-vanes 15-feet below the surface to reduce rolling motion. Wash-down hose on the fore deck.  Boom holds the steady sail and can also be used for hoisting. Extensive covers protect the brightwork, including a new 'Lohmann' full-vessel cover for extended periods.
